5/3/2023 0 Comments Wayang spellhunter trait…But the benefits of Magical Lineage and Waywang Spellhunter can be combinedĮxcept in rare case, bonuses of the same type or from the same source don't stack, and, instead, only the highest bonus of the same type is applied. For example, the trait Elven Reflexes and the trait Reactionary each grant a +2 trait bonus (the bonus's type) on initiative checks so a creature with both traits gains only a +2 trait bonus on initiative checks. However, the benefits of the traits Magical Lineage and Waywang Spellhunter are not bonuses-and even different benefits-, so the two traits can work in conjunction. This means that the benefit of the trait Magical Lineage can be combined with the benefit of the trait Wayang Spellhunter (i.e. Metamagic Master) to allow the creature to prepare in (or cast using) a 2nd-level slot an intensified empowered shocking grasp spell.Etheric Shards fills the same game space as Wall of Thorns - 5th level, SR:no, saveless area control that will make even wizards a little envious. It's comparatively less hard control in exchange for heavier potential damage, but effectively the result will be very similar.Ĭreate Mindscape has a bunch of fun applications, but perhaps most notable is that implicitly it does not need Line of Effect (explicitly doesn't need line of sight, but written example in the spell also does not have line of effect). This means you can use it while safe within a Resilient Sphere - and it's also essentially saveless, the save telling them it's a mindscape and how to escape but that doesn't prevent you from making it time consuming. Perhaps most reliably used to render both yourself and an enemy effectively (if not technically) helpless, when trading one player for one enemy in a combat is a sensible option. The Greater version lets you create a perfect battlefield, including making the mindscape Dead Magic, letting you do things like savelessly put an enemy spellcaster at the bottom of a pit, surrounded by your marital friends/minions, and rendering them entirely mundane.Įxplode Head is a funny spell, but it's not actually all that great. It's only 1d6 per caster level damage to a single target, halved on a successful save. Or, if the enemy is already 20 or less HP or is reduced from above 20 to 0 or less, it causes their head to explode instantly killing them and dealing a measly 2d6 damage to everyone around them. For what it's worth, his opposition schools are Conjuration and Enchantment, though I'd consider changing Conjuration to Abjuration while I still can. It's pretty easy to compare to Mind Thrust V, a spell of the same level. It's presently Greater Spell Focus (Illusion), but can anyone think of other compelling possibilities? Even though one can never go wrong with Toughness or Dodge, I'd be hoping more for something weirder. It also wouldn't hurt to ask for opinions on a good alternative 1st-level feat. And how good is Use Magic Device for a Wizard? Is there by chance a trait that could make Stealth a class skill? Even though I've already got a +9 by virtue of size, race, and Dexterity alone, it's been suggested I should go so far as to max it out. I've also considered about the Stoic Optimist Desna-worship trait, an oriental regional trait that does the same thing (forget its name, it's from the Sky Spirit place), and Dangerously Curious, all of which could be good, but I'm still hoping there might be better. I haven't figured out his native region, but it ought to be one of the oriental ones. I am aware of the Wayang Spellhunter regional trait, but don't particularly want to take it since I don't want to be overly married to a particular spell - he is an Illusion specialist, and metamagic doesn't seem to me to jive overly well with that school at lower levels (which is all that trait can apply to). I would be willing to consider changing my patron deity if it meant access to a sufficiently cool and appropriate religion trait. Any suggestions that fit in with what his profile describes? I'd be particularly interested in comparatively obscure options I might have overlooked, and I have a LOT of material at my disposal. He's already got the Lantern Lodge "Mind Over Matter" faction trait, so it could come from any other list now. I've sorted him out mostly, but I still need to pick one more trait. I've just started playing a Wayang Shadowcaster - here's his profile.
